Introduction

QuoteDefender™ ("we", "our", or "us") checks vehicle lease and finance quotes. This policy explains what we collect when you use our website and mobile app ("Service"), why, and who receives it. By using the Service you agree to it.

Information We Collect

The mobile app uses your camera and photos only when you choose to take or pick a photo of a quote.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide the Service: read your quote, check its numbers, and show you the result
• To run your account: sign you in and keep your deals in sync across your devices
• To improve the Service: find and fix misreads and make the analysis more accurate
• To email you: account emails (verification, security alerts, receipts) and product emails (a monthly newsletter, feature announcements, reminders about your pass or a quote you started, and an occasional survey). Every product email has an unsubscribe link

Who We Share It With

We share data only with the companies that help us run the Service, listed here. Each receives only what its job needs. We choose providers that commit to keep your data confidential, to use it only to provide their service to us, and to protect it at least as well as this policy describes. If we add or replace one, we update this list and the date at the top of this page.

• Google (Gemini): reads the quote you upload and returns the figures on it. Google does not use your quote to train its models. Terms
• Groq: drafts your negotiation message, and reads your quote if Google is unavailable. Groq keeps no copy and does not train its models on it. Data policy
• CloudConvert: turns some PDFs into images so they can be read. Privacy policy
• Stripe: takes your payment. It receives your email address and the billing details you enter at checkout. Your card number goes to Stripe directly. We never see or store it. Privacy policy
• Resend: delivers our emails. It receives your email address and the message. Privacy policy
• Supabase and Vercel: store your account and your deals and run the website. Supabase, Vercel
• Vercel Analytics: counts usage anonymously. It sets no cookies and is not tied to your account.
• Sentry: receives error reports so we can fix faults. While you are signed in, your user ID and email address are attached to them. Privacy policy
• Capgo: delivers updates to the mobile app. It receives the install identifier and the app and system version, and nothing about your account. The app accepts only updates signed with our own key. Privacy policy
• Google and Apple sign-in: if you choose to sign in with one of them, it confirms who you are and shares your name and email address with us. We never receive your Google or Apple password.
• Vehicle lookups: the VIN on your quote may be sent to the U.S. government's VIN decoder (NHTSA), to the automaker's window-sticker service, and to our vehicle data provider, to identify the car, its sticker price, and the lender's current rates. It is sent on its own, without your name, email, or account.
• Legal requirements: when the law requires it, or to protect our rights.

Community Benchmark Data

We rate your deal against real deals other shoppers have scanned. Scanning a quote adds its terms to that shared dataset. Deals you type in by hand are not included.

A contribution holds the vehicle, the pricing and term, your state, and on a finance deal your trade-in figures and credit tier. It never holds your name, your email, the document you uploaded, or the VIN and dealer named on it.

Lease deals appear on our community and leaderboard screens, one row each, with nothing shown about who scanned them. Finance deals are not shown to other users.

How Long We Keep It

• Your account and your saved deals: until you delete them or delete your account
• Uploaded documents and the text read from them: held in private storage for up to three days for troubleshooting and service improvement, then deleted automatically. Deleting your account removes them within the same period
• Community benchmark contributions: kept. Deleting your account removes the link between you and yours, and the deal figures stay
• Usage counts, such as how many quotes were scanned: may be kept in aggregate
• Our providers keep their own copies only as long as their terms allow. Their policies are linked above

Security and Storage

• All data travels over HTTPS and is encrypted at rest in our database
• Passwords are hashed
• The Service is available only in the United States. Your account and your saved deals are stored in the United States. Some of the providers listed above may process data in other countries
• Local storage on your device keeps you signed in and holds your preferences and a copy of your saved deals. The copy is removed when you sign out

Your Choices

To use these, visit Account Settings > Data & Storage, or write to privacy@quotedefender.com. The mobile app asks your permission before the first quote you upload is read, and you can take it back in Account, Data and storage. You can withdraw your consent to our use of your data at any time by deleting your account or writing to us. We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising, and we will not treat you differently for using these choices.

California residents: these are the rights the California Consumer Privacy Act describes: to know, delete, and correct your information, to opt out of its sale or sharing, to limit the use of sensitive information, and not to be treated differently for asking.

Do Not Track: We do not track you across other websites or apps, and we do not let advertising companies collect information about what you do on our Service. The Service therefore works the same whether or not your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal. Our payment provider, Stripe, may collect device information on the checkout page to prevent fraud across the sites that use it.

Cookies & Local Storage

• A device cookie: for visitors without an account, to apply the free scan limit
• Local storage: to keep you signed in and to hold your preferences and a copy of your saved deals
• Checkout cookies: Stripe may set its own on the checkout page to prevent fraud

Our analytics sets no cookies. You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we delete it if we learn that we have.

Changes to This Policy

When we change this policy we post the new version here and update the date at the top. For a material change we also tell you by email or in the Service.
