Volkswagen Lease Deals September 2026: Every Model Ranked
Volkswagen's September lease programs, every trim priced and diffed against August. Most of the lineup now shares one rate, and a few cars kept the deals that matter.
Volkswagen put 38 of its 52 leaseable trims on one standard rate in September, including every Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport and Jetta. The ones that had a special rate in August lost it.
VW softened the blow with more lease cash on those cars, but not by enough. The Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport trims that can be compared with August cost $32 to $106 a month more, and the 2026 Jetta SEL $69 more. The 2026 Jetta GLI is the exception, down $24.

The Lineup, Cheapest First
The 2026 Jetta S at ~$359 is the cheapest Volkswagen lease and the ID.4 Pro S Plus 4Motion at ~$1,031 is the most expensive. VW leases 52 trims across 2026 and 2027, and every one is below.
Only 12 of those trims can be compared with August, because August's data covered fewer VW programs. The rest show a dash. That says nothing about whether VW leased them in August, only that the comparison is not available.

*Pre-tax, 36mo/12K miles, Northeast region, full MSRP, nothing down. Payments include any lease cash every buyer qualifies for; VW does not advertise the amounts, so they are not listed. MSRP is VW's MSRP plus destination. The 2026 Tiguan rows are the 4Motion cars; the front-drive Tiguan carries the same program on a lower sticker, so it leases for less. A dash marks a trim that was not in August's data. Data: Volkswagen Financial Services, September 2026.
Verdict: September Volkswagen
Shop the specials, not the badge. The Tiguan, the 2026 Taos and the Golf GTI kept their special rates and are where VW is putting its money. The Atlas and Jetta are leasing on the standard rate now, so their price is what you negotiate, not the program.
These tables are one configuration.
36 months, 12,000 miles, Northeast. Your term, mileage, and state move the payment. Get your exact number, free.
What These Payments Are
Every payment here is full MSRP, nothing down, pre-tax. No discount, no trade, no money down. That makes them a ceiling, not a target. They exist so you can measure a dealer quote against the program the lender actually published.
$1,000 off the selling price is about $30 a month at 36 months. That is the only conversion you need, and VW's own ads use it: every one of its September lease offers starts from MSRP and subtracts a "suggested dealer contribution". A Tiguan S 4Motion at ~$425 with $2,000 off the sticker should land near $365.
Three things move a real quote
A discount pulls the payment down at roughly $30 per $1,000. Money down pulls it down too, but you already paid that money, so it is not a saving. Tax and fees push it up, and how much depends on your state.
Atlas and Jetta: Special Rates Out, Cash In
VW moved every 2026 Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport and Jetta to its standard rate, and on the Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport and Jetta trims August's data covers, that rate is nearly double to two and a half times what those cars carried before. VW put more lease cash behind every one of them at the same time.
The cash did not cover it on the Atlas Cross Sport. The SE w/ Technology 4Motion rose $106 to ~$678 and the SE 4Motion $72 to ~$576, each also giving up five residual points. The Atlas held up better: the SE w/ Technology 4Motion rose $49 to ~$642 and the SE 4Motion $32 to ~$556.
The 2026 Jetta SEL rose $69 to ~$459. The 2026 Jetta GLI Autobahn fell $24 to ~$497, the only car in this group that came out ahead, because its rate rose least and its new cash covered the rest.
Verdict: Negotiate the price, not the program
On an Atlas or a Jetta the rate is VW's standard rate, the same one a dealer can offer any month. The lease support is already in the numbers above. What is left to move is the selling price, and at $30 a month per $1,000 that is where the money is.
Taos, Tiguan and GTI Kept Their Specials
Only three VW lines still carry a special rate: the 2026 Taos, the Tiguan and the Golf GTI. On the Tiguan S, SE and SE R-Line Black the rate is less than half the standard rate, and on the Taos SEL 4Motion it is the same. The Tiguan S 4Motion leases for ~$425, less than the cheapest 2026 Taos with 4Motion.
Two of those trims got a little more expensive. The Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo rose $67 to ~$594: its rate went up by more than two thirds and is now a little over half the standard rate. The Taos SE Black FWD rose $21 and the Taos SEL 4Motion $19, each on a smaller rate increase and a residual point.
Verdict: The Tiguan S and SE
The Tiguan S 4Motion at ~$425 and SE 4Motion at ~$462 are the best-supported leases VW sells this month. If you are choosing between a Tiguan and a Taos, the Tiguan's special rate makes it the better lease for close to the same payment.
2026 or 2027: Take the 2026
Every 2027 Jetta, Jetta GLI and Taos leases for more than the same 2026 trim. The 2027s all sit on the standard rate, while the 2026 Taos keeps its special.
| Trim | 2026 | 2027 | 2027 costs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jetta S | ~$359 | ~$385 | +$26/mo |
| Jetta SEL | ~$459 | ~$477 | +$18/mo |
| Jetta GLI Autobahn | ~$497 | ~$526 | +$29/mo |
| Taos S FWD | ~$424 | ~$433 | +$9/mo |
| Taos SE FWD | ~$445 | ~$476 | +$31/mo |
| Taos SE Black FWD | ~$470 | ~$511 | +$41/mo |
| Taos SEL 4Motion | ~$502 | ~$579 | +$77/mo |
Pre-tax, 36mo/12K miles, Northeast region, full MSRP, nothing down. Data: Volkswagen Financial Services, September 2026.
Verdict: Lease the 2026
On every Jetta, GLI and Taos trim the 2026 is the cheaper 36-month lease, by $9 on the Taos S FWD and by $77 on the Taos SEL 4Motion. The 2027 Taos adds a Sport trim; the 2027 Sport FWD at ~$447 still costs more than a 2026 SE FWD at ~$445.
ID.4: The Most Expensive VW Lease
The ID.4 runs ~$772 to ~$1,031 a month, from the Pro RWD to the Pro S Plus 4Motion, and four of its five trims cost more than any Atlas or Atlas Cross Sport. It sits on the standard rate, and it keeps the least of its value: its residual is the lowest in the lineup at every term. Only the Pro S Plus 4Motion can be compared with August, up $16.
Verdict: A price negotiation, not a lease deal
Nothing in VW's September program makes the ID.4 cheap to lease. If you want one, it is a selling-price negotiation, and on a $46,570 to $59,130 sticker a real discount moves the payment more than on anything else VW sells.
The Markup Test
VW's standard lease rate is 7.99% APR, the rate its own Atlas SE Tech offer on vw.com works out to.
That one rate covers 38 of VW's 52 trims: every Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Jetta, Jetta GLI and ID.4, and every 2027 Taos. For a well-qualified buyer, the money factor on the worksheet for any of those cars should match it. Anything higher is markup, not the program.
The specials are lower and vary by trim. VW's own Tiguan S offer works out to 3.50% APR.
Verdict: Ask for the money factor in writing
On a standard-rate VW there is one number to check, and a dealer quoting above it is marking up the rate. On a Taos, Tiguan or GTI the special depends on the trim. Paste your quote into QuoteDefender and it checks the rate against this month's Volkswagen program.
Terms: Where the Specials End
The terms below run from 12 to 48 months. On the Tiguan and the Golf GTI, the special rate covers terms up to 36 months; at 39, 42 and 48 months both fall to the standard rate. The Taos keeps its special through 48 months.
Against 36 months, a 39-month lease gives up two to five residual points, a 42-month lease four to seven, and a 48-month lease seven to ten, with the Atlas losing the most. A 24-month lease gains seven.
Verdict: Price the term before you pick it
On a Tiguan or GTI, a lease longer than 36 months loses the special rate as well as residual value. Ask for 36 and 39 months side by side before you accept a longer lease to lower the monthly, and compare what you pay in total.
Payment Math & Assumptions
All monthly payments in this post are pre-tax estimates based on a 36-month term, 12,000 miles per year, and the Northeast region program. Cap cost = MSRP minus the lease cash every buyer qualifies for. No down payment, no dealer discount, no trade. Conditional programs such as military and mobility-equipment bonuses are excluded.
MSRP is VW's MSRP from its model pricing sheets plus destination, which VW sets per model and year: $1,275 on the 2026 Jetta, Jetta GLI and Golf GTI, $1,475 on the 2026 Taos, Tiguan, Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport and ID.4, $1,325 on the 2027 Jetta and GLI, and $1,525 on the 2027 Taos. VW's seven September lease offers on vw.com reproduce the rate and residual behind these payments.
Tax, registration, title, acquisition and dealer doc fees are excluded and vary by state. Rates and residuals are region-specific, so a Northeast number is not a California number.
